Phillip Alvaro Missing

Search for a man believed missing in floodwaters in the Riverina has been temporarily suspended. As the flood situation in the town worsens, police have temporarily halted their search for Phillip Alvaro, a man from Hillston who is thought to be missing in floodwaters.

After Mr. Alvaro failed to return to a rural residence on Lachlan Valley Way in Hillston on Wednesday, an operation was started.

On Wednesday around noon, he was last spotted at the location.

With assistance from PolAir, Police Rescue, NSW SES volunteers, and paramedics from NSW Ambulance, the Murrumbidgee Police District’s police officers started a search on Wednesday.

Parts of Wagga Wagga, in the NSW Riverina, continue to be under evacuation orders due to flooding from the Murrumbidgee River. Due to the weather, police have stopped looking for Phillip Alvaro, 63, of Hillston. A search operation was started on Wednesday when Mr. Alvaro failed to show up at his property in the Lachlan Valley on Tuesday, when he was last seen.
