Elnaz Rekabi Missing
Iranian rock climber, Elnaz Rekabi, has been reportedly missing in South Korea. Her disappearance comes two days of her participation in an international tournament in South Korea. She participated in the tournament without a hijab.
Her friends and family members have been unable to contact her since Sunday. The Iranian embassy tells a different story. The embassy insists that Elnaz Rekabi returned to her country along with the rest of the team.
She competed in the Asian Championships in South Korea.
“The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in South Korea strongly denies any fake news and disinformation regarding Ms. Elnaz REKABI”, said the embassy in a statement to The Guardian.
Her disappearance comes at a volatile time where women are removing their hijabs protesting over the death of Mahsa Amini.
