Anthony Varvaro was an American profesional baseball player. He played in the Major League Baseball for the Seattle Mariners, Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox. After that he left baseball in 2015 to become a police officer in the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Early Life

Varvaro was born and raised in West Brighton neighbourhood in Straten Island, New York. He did his high school from Curtis High School in Straten Island. He was part of the school’s baseball team.

For university, he attended St. John’s University. Here too he played baseball and was part of the college baseball team.


He was drafted into the MLB in 2005 season in the 12th round. He palyed teams such as Seattle Marinerrs, Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox. He retired from baseball in 2015.

He began police training and became a Port Authority Police officer in December 2016. He was transferree to Port Authority’s police academy to become an instructor.

Personal Life

Varvaro was married to Kerrt Thompson in 2011. The couple have four children together.


Varvaro died in September 11, 2022 in a head collision with a wrong way driver. He was on his way to his daily work.
